I really dislike this recent glamorisation of the word ‘awkward’. stop constantly saying that you’re ‘awkward’, stop using it as your main identifier, stop acting as if it’s a great, unifying trait to have one minute and an awful burden the next, stop claiming that you have anxiety disorder just because you sometimes say ‘awkward’ things in social situations, stop using ‘I’m awkward!’ as an excuse to choose to never interact with people in the real world if you’re then going to complain about how you have no friends.
on the other hand, if you’re actually having trouble and you feel like your awkwardness is having a debilitating effect on your life, please go and seek help. if it’s making you that unhappy, that’s no way to live. talk to someone about it! I’m serious. I’m not just being a bitch here. it’s a thing you can work on. please do that.
Awkward is the new equivilent of “random” in the early 2000’s, when everyone was preaching how OMG random they were.
